Alex Sheen Visits SBEP

A male guest speaker smiles and poses with high school students for a picture.

Alex Sheen, founder of charity organization because I said I would, visited St. Bernard-Elmwood Place on Monday, October 19. Because I said I would is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering people with resiliency skills and mental health habits to face the adversities of life. Sheen shared his personal story about the organization’s founding with students and staff at SBEP Jr./Sr. High School, speaking from the heart about his late father’s admirable ability to keep his promises. It was this quality that inspired Sheen to create Promise Cards, cards that help to hold people accountable to their committments.

Each student in attendance received their own pack of Promise Cards. They will write their promises to themselves and turn them in to be displayed on a wall in the building. Thank you to Alex Sheen for talking to our students and for providing them with their cards.
