During the August 24 Board Meeting, teacher Michelle Miller was given a plaque to celebrate her induction to our Education Hall of Fame. She has been an invaluable part of the educational community at SBEP for the past sixteen years. During her tenure, she has taught kindergarten, third grade, and currently serves as a second-grade teacher. In addition to her classroom responsibilities, she has provided exceptional leadership to the K–2 teaching staff in her role as department head.

Michelle’s contributions extend far beyond her duties as a classroom teacher and lead teacher. She maintains an open-door policy and is always willing to assist colleagues as they navigate online programs, complete administrative requirements, and access instructional resources. She provides guidance on maintaining certification through the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education, shares professional reading materials to support instructional growth, participates in teacher candidate interviews, and dedicates countless hours to meetings and collaborative initiatives that benefit the district.

Despite her many additional responsibilities, Michelle remains deeply committed to her students. She consistently fosters academic growth in both mathematics and reading while creating a positive and engaging classroom environment. Whether it is the excitement generated by the annual visit from the classroom elf during the holiday season or the special reward of lunch with the teacher, Michelle creates meaningful experiences that bring joy to her students and strengthen their love of learning.

Michelle Miller has been an extraordinary asset to both the staff and students of St. Bernard-Elmwood Place Schools. Her dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to education make her highly deserving of the Education Hall of Fame Distinguished Service Award. We are proud to recognize her contributions and grateful to have her as a member of the SBEP community.
