Damien Dawson Reaches 1,000 Point Milestone

Student Damien Dawson holds up a sign that reads "1000 points, Damien Dawson."

On January 23, 2025, St. Bernard-Elmwood Place senior Damien Dawson reached the 1,000-point mark for his high school basketball career. It’s an outstanding achievement that only a handful of players in the history of our school have accomplished. Dawson surpassed this milestone during yesterday’s home game against the Shroder Jaguars. It was an impressive showing for Dawson, who has scored over 30 points in two consecutive games.

Despite the Titans being down several points with only a few minutes left in the game, Dawson insisted on continuing to play because “we still have a chance to win.” He reached his 1,000th career point on a free throw.

Dawson has had a fantastic year in SBEP sports. He won the award for "Most Valuable Player" of the Crossover Classic Tournament last month. In football, he was a key part of a team that won playoff games for the first time in school history. He now holds our records for receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in a season.

Congratulations to Dawson on this milestone, we are proud of his accomplishments and look forward to seeing him continue to play Titan basketball.
