Welcome to St. Bernard-Elmwood Place City Schools

Dear Titan Community,

We have made a change in our school calendar for April 8, 2024.  Initially, we had planned for an early dismissal, but we have decided that it is in the best interest of our students and staff to close school for the entire day on April 8 in our district.

The solar eclipse on April 8, 2024, presents a unique opportunity for students to observe and appreciate a rare celestial event in our region. The safety and well-being of our students are of utmost importance to us. We believe that the most prudent course of action is to allow parents/guardians to supervise where and how their children observe this phenomenon.

We apologize that this change may inconvenience some of you; however, we believe that prioritizing the educational opportunity and the safety of our students takes priority. There are many resources available online and at local libraries with information about the upcoming solar eclipse and the safety precautions, including protective eyewear, that are required to view it without incident.

We hope that you will make the most of this educational experience with your children. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns regarding this calendar change. We thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Sincerely,
Dr. Mimi Webb
